compose

The verb compose is the act of making or creating something or making something, most often original or unique. It is often used with art, music or literature.

Examples:

  • He composed a new novel last year after a 20-year hiatus from writing.
  • The student composed a new song for their mother.
  • The painter composed the portrait using pastel on wood.

Do not confuse with constitute or comprise, consist of.
