CoVid, CoVid-19

CoVid stands for Corona Virus disease. CoVid-19 is the disease caused by a variant of the virus SARS-CoV-2. It is primarily a respiratory disease, spread by an airborne virus, but can affect many parts of the body and can cause long-lasting damage.

Use Pascal case for the abbreviation, making it CoVid and CoVid-19, where the C is capitalized and the V is capitalized. Either CoVid or CoVid-19 is acceptable.

Editor’s note: The convention for abbreviation of the Corona Virus when writing SARS-CoV-2 is Pascal case — Co, for Corona with the C capitalized and o lower case, V for Virus, with the V upper case. Therefore, to increase consistency and clarity, continue the practice of using Pascal case across all abbreviations associated with the Corona Virus: SARS-CoV-2, CoVid, CoVid-19, Long CoVid, etc.
