January 6th

On first reference, use either Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol or attack on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

In subsequent references, use on of the following:

  • January 6th
  • January 6th attack
  • 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol

Spell out the month January, as opposed to the standard way of writing a date with the month abbreviated.

For specific memorials or groups in relationship to January 6th, follow proper name rules.
